Its name comes from the Sanskrit word Sughosh, associated with a beautiful or auspicious proclamation, reflecting the clear, penetrating sound traditionally produced by the conch.

The shell shown features a naturally sculpted, robust form with prominent ridges, organic textures and warm cream, golden and earthy brown tones. Its substantial structure and naturally formed contours give it a striking presence, while every shell remains unique in shape, colour, markings and texture.

Traditionally blown during pujas, aartis, festivals and other auspicious occasions, the Sughosh Shankh is used to mark the beginning of rituals and create a resonant sound within sacred spaces. In Hindu tradition, the Sughosh Shankh is also associated with Nakula, one of the Pandava brothers in the Mahabharata.

  • Position the blowing opening comfortably against your lips.
  • Create a firm seal around the opening with your lips.
  • Take a deep breath and blow steadily into the opening.
  • Adjust your lip position and airflow gradually until the shell begins to resonate.
  • Maintain controlled airflow to produce a steady, sustained tone.
  • Allow the sound to fade naturally before attempting another blow.
