Dumru/Dumroo Indian Handmade Percussion Instrument

5.00 out of 2 reviews

Dumroo is a small percussion instrument that has been used traditionally by the Hindus and Buddhists for a long time. In the Indian Mythology, it is with the sound of the Dumroo that lord Shiva created the whole universe. The Dumroo also commonly spelt as Damroo or Dumaroo and is played by gently holding the narrow central region with the fingers and vigorously twisting the wrist. This vigorous movement creates a fast paced percussive sound. These Dumroos are traditionally crafted by artisans in India and since they are all handmade, they sometimes vary in size, colour and frequency. They are easy to learn and can be played by all age groups.
